Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared an emotional story from his early days, recalling how he got his first proper cricket shoes. As a young aspiring cricketer, he was fascinated by a pair of imported shoes owned by his senior teammate Pravin Amre, which were rare and not easily available in India at the time.
Amre noticed Tendulkar’s interest and challenged him to score a century if he wanted the shoes. Motivated by this, Tendulkar went on to achieve the milestone but later admitted that he “didn’t have the guts” to remind Amre about the promise.
However, Amre remembered the commitment and personally gifted him the shoes, making it the first high-quality pair of cricket shoes Tendulkar ever owned. The incident left a lasting impact on him, highlighting the importance of encouragement, mentorship, and small gestures in shaping a young athlete’s journey.
