Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared a heartfelt memory from his early days, recalling how he received his first good-quality cricket shoes from former India cricketer Pravin Amre. Speaking during the launch of his sportswear brand, Tendulkar highlighted how small gestures and support played a crucial role in shaping his journey as a young cricketer.
As a teenager, Tendulkar was fascinated by a pair of imported cricket shoes owned by Amre. Noticing his interest, Amre challenged him to score a century if he wanted the shoes. Motivated by this, Tendulkar went on to score a hundred, but later admitted that he “didn’t have the guts” to remind Amre about the promise.
However, Amre remembered the commitment and personally gifted him the shoes, making it the first high-quality pair Tendulkar ever owned. The incident left a lasting impression on him, highlighting the importance of encouragement, mentorship, and generosity in a young athlete’s life.
