Ramabai’s Inspiring Run for Her Daughters’ Education

Ramabai Ranveer, a 47-year-old woman from Ambajogai in Maharashtra’s Beed district, drew widespread attention after participating in a marathon to support her daughters’ education. Despite difficult financial circumstances, Ramabai took part in a 3-kilometre race with the hope of using the prize money to meet her daughters’ educational needs.

During the race, heavy rain made the route wet and slippery, causing her footwear to repeatedly come off. Instead of giving up, Ramabai removed her footwear and continued running barefoot. She completed the race despite the pain caused by stones and uneven ground and went on to win the competition, receiving a prize of ₹3,000.

For Ramabai, the race was more than a sporting event. After the death of her husband, she became the primary breadwinner for her family and works various jobs, including cooking in households, to support her two daughters. She hoped to use the prize money to buy books and other essentials required for their education.

Her story soon gained attention on social media, with people coming forward to support her. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also took note of her determination and offered to provide her with proper running shoes, while the Beed district administration announced financial assistance for her.
